"You alright?"

"I can't believe how ... timely that is."

"What is?"

"You, coming down, now."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. I'm having a bad night. I'm going to bed. I'm going to leave that stuff there on the table for you to sort out, if that's alright."

"No problem."

"I really can't believe that you just came down."

"Hang on, I'm just going to get a beer."

"Are you going to stay up down here?"

"Well, I was going to have a drink with you for half an hour, so I'm staying up for a bit, but I'm not going to be up all night."

"What are you going to do about the heating?"

"What do you mean? I'll turn it off in half an hour."

"No, where will you leave the remote?"

"I'll keep it with me."

"No, where will you leave it?"

"I'll keep it with me, I'll sort it out in the morning, don't worry."

"You'll sort it out?"

"I'll put it on in the morning."

"At what time?"

"At the normal time, about eight, half eight."

"OK. I just need to know what's happening."

"OK."

"About everything."

"Right. How come you're having a bad night?"

"I'm just having a bad night."

"I know, but how though?"

"It's very difficult for me to accept my situation."

"..."

"My independence is important to me. It's impossible for you to understand, what it's like to live in a house with another person."

"..."

"And try to consider them."

"..."

"In everything."

"..."

"It's so difficult..."

"I think I do understand."

"You aren't 78 years of age."

"Of course you're right, but."

"But what?"

"But isn't my situation similar to yours? It's not the same, but I think I understand. In some ways I'm the opposite to you, but I do think I understand what it's like to live with someone, unexpectedly, and to have to consider them, as you do."

"I knew it. I knew you wouldn't give me that."

"Give you what?"

"I knew you wouldn't give me...any advantage."

"Advantage? I wasn't having a dig."

"Oh I know, of course."

"I wasn't!"

"Nevermind, forget it."

"I'm sorry you see things that way."

"Nevermind, forget it I said."

"You've misunderstood me."

"Well, that's my condition, isn't it?"

"I didn't mean it the way you've taken it."

"..."

"You're on your own with that."

"I'm going to bed."

"Goodnight, sleep well."

"Right."
