In today's P.C. culture, it is always important to make an attempt at being kind-hearted, while trying not to offend anyone.

Death brings on great challenges for the person who strives to be politically correct.

What if you say "I'm sorry your father passed away," and the person replies, "I'm not."

This situation comes up more than you would know. When your loved ones are suffering, can you truly be sorry that death has finally released them? Might you not be celebrating their release? And so, "they" say that the correct thing to say is "I'm sorry for your loss."

"I'm sorry for your loss," is the limp-wristed, weak way of saying "I really feel sorry for you, and I wish I could remove your pain, but I am unsure how. Please, tell me what I can do for you."

Or at least, that's what it should mean.
