Hyderabad is a large city in India, the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh. With a population of over 6 million within the city limits and a population of about 10 million in the greater metropolitan area, Hyderabad is the second largest metropolis in India, after New Delhi.

Hyderabad is famous for its booming information technology, business process outsourcing, and biotech industries, and is also home to the Telugu-language film industry, including the largest film studio in the world - Ramoji Film City - a massive studio/amusement park complex that covers more than 2,000 acres of land.

Situated along the banks of the Musi River, Hyderabad was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, ruler of the city-state of Golconda, when the original city of Golconda ran out of water. According to legend, the city was named after Quli Qutb Shah's lady love, a local girl named Hyder Mahal.
