The Horn of Africa, or the Greater Horn of Africa as its sometimes called is that pointy thing that sticks out on the eastern edge of the African continent. It contains the countries of Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. In the Horn of Africa around 70 million people suffer from chronic food insecurity and are often menaced by famine. This is caused by several things, including almost constant civil wars, drought, poverty, and rapid population growth.
This area is truly one of the most intersting in the world to me. It contains the Great Rift Valley, it is the location of many biblical stories, it has an incredible richness of culture and is home to many distinct and vibrant peoples, and some believe it is even the site of the birth of mankind.
