Homoiothermy

Professional group speak for warm blooded. There is an enormous amount of drivel written on this subject; it attracts drivel.

Many animals are partly homoiothermic; for example, tuna fish have warm livers and main swimming muscles while the rest is "cold." Many animals are homoiothermic sometimes and not others. For example, hairy moths' flight muscles.

In his book "What Is Life?" Erwin Schrödinger argues homoiothermy is a means of pumping positive entropy out of the animal. This is about the only sensible theory Sporus has heard.
