A holter monitor is a small device worn to measure your heart activity. One is prescribed by your doctor to diagnose things like heart attacks, arrhythmias, or palpitations.

The one that I wore was about the size of a paperback book, and contained a cassette tape. Six electrodes were affixed to my chest and itched terribly for the 24 hours I was required to wear it.
