Holmfirth is a small town approx. 8 miles from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. It's claim to fame is Last of the Summer Wine the BBC's longest running comedy series and the worlds longest running sitcom. There is a cinema, a supermarket, petrol stations and other shops. Located near Holmfirth are a number of smaller villages including Upperthong, Netherthong, Holmbridge, Wooldale, Thongsbridge and Holme. Holmfirth receives quite a lot of tourists during the summer, has a vibrant folk festival and an art festival. It is also supposed to be the birthplace of the postcard.
