A historically black neighbourhood in Pittsburgh, PA, USA located around Forbes Avenue about 15 city blocks from the point. In its heyday it was a centre of jazz, blues, theatre and culture for much of the city. The construction of freeways and highways in the 50s caused it to become cut off from the rest of the city (many houses were torn down as well) this lead to a rise in crime, poverty and general deterioration of the neighbourhood during the 60s, 70s and 80s recently there have been some moves to revitalise this area though none have been successful. To most Pittsburghers it’s still known as a “bad neighbourhood.”
