A beautiful story from Kurt Vonnegut's short story collection "Welcome to the Monkey House". Set in the future when the most powerful government official is the Handicapper General. Anyone smart, beautiful, talented, athletic, etc. is forced to wear masks, heavy weights, et al. so the less fortunate people don't feel less fortunate. An unexpected ending, too. Read the story. Heck, just get the whole book.

A made-for-HBO movie directed by Bruce Pittman, based on the Kurt Vonnegut novel of the same name. Starred Sean Astin in the title role, Eugene Levy, Howie Mandel, and Christopher Plummer.

When I was about fifteen or so, I saw it at a friend's house. I remember thinking "This is the best movie ever".

Later, I rented it from the local Blockbuster. It was a terrible movie. Bad acting, low budget.

Many years later, it isn't my virginity that I look back on--I now look back on that day as the day I realized that I was now a man.
