Halfords is a chain of shops in the UK that sell "transport related" parts. This includes, but is not limited to...

  • Car spare parts including
  • Additional car accessories
  • Car audio equipment
  • A wide range of bicycles
  • Car child seats (and they usually have one member of staff trained in checking they're fitted correctly)

On top of this, some of the larger ones also have service centres capable of performing the MOT test on normal cars.

If you're after a spare part for your car (eg a new battery) or a general accessory, they're often a lot cheaper than going back to you dealer.

Halfords was founded as a local hardware store in Birmingham in 1892 by F W Rushbrooke and has since grown to establish its position as the leading retailer of car parts, cycles and accessories in the UK. It was not until 1965 that the business became known as Halfords Limited.
