György Sandor Ligeti (born Diciosánmartin, Transylvania, 28 May 1923). Pupil of Sándor Veress and Ferenc Farkas. Teacher at the Budapest Music Academy, 1950-56, at the International Courses for New Music in Darmstadt from 1959, at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm from 1961, and at the Staadtliche Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg from 1973.
