The 10th and final living Guru of the Sikhs.
He institued the Khalsa, which could essentially be seen as an extension of the practices of the Sikhs under the previous nine Gurus. He revolutionised Sikhism by conducting a unique baptism ceremony where 5 Sikhs were chosen from the crowd and baptised by him. This ceremony is still conducted all over the world today on the day of Baisakhi, which is traditionally the Harvest Festival.
After baptising these 5 Sikhs, he then proceeded to be baptised by them. He did this to manifest the concept of the Panj Pyare(the 5 beloved ones), whereby any 5 baptised sikhs gathered together shall be the form of the Guru.
