Groovy little film detailing a day in the life of two
junkies, Spoon (
Tim Roth) and Stretch (
Tupac Shakur), who decide to quit after their mutual friend, Cookie (
Thandie Newton)
ODs and is left
comatose in
intensive care on
New Year's Eve.
Unfortunately, their desire to
kick the habit is blocked at every turn by uncaring bureaucrats who refer them from department to department,
ad infinitum.
Of course, watching two junkies fill in forms and shiver for ninety minutes wouldn't make entertaining viewing, so there's a murder, blind veterans (complete with dog), big bad gangsters and their bigger, badder henchmen to deal with.
Oh, and did I mention that the three main protaganists are in a Jazz band? It's all good.
