The second-most planted grape in the world, and the most abundant grape variety in Spain (Shea). Grenache grapes are dark and used in red wine, but almost exclusively for blending other more popular varietals together, (usually in a Rhône red). The Grenache grape is underrated by itself, and has quite a bit more merit as a delicious, flavorful grape than its reputation would allow. It is difficult to find a Grenache-only wine, but if one can manage to find it, pure Grenache is excellent when paired with creamy foods, and even cheesecake and berries.
