Greg Proops was born October 3, 1959 in
Phoenix,
Arizona. His family moved to
Lancaster,
California around 1962, they then moved to the
San Fransisco Bay area in 1966. He was mainly raised in a small suburb
San Carlos,
California.
He went to
San Mateo Junior College and
San Francisco University where he studied
acting. His first standup group was
Proops and Brakeman, with partner
Forrest Brakemen. He later joined
Faultline, and
improv group, which
Mike McShane was also a member. His first visit to the
United Kingdom was for the show
Whose Line is it Anyway?, and he has been back numerous times.
He is probably best known for his frequent appearances on both the American and British versions of
Whose Line is it Anyway?. However, he also does standup and has videos and CDs of his standup.
He is married to Jennifer Proops, and has no children.
