This is a campfire song that I sang countless times during the
Boy Scout trips of my
youth.
You sing this to the tune of God Bless America. It works best if you are a dirty, exhausted 13 year old boy sitting around a campfire in the woods with a dozen other exhausted boys, the lot of you stuffed with hearty beef stew and S'mores . . .
God bless my underwear, my only pair.
Stand beside them, and guide them,
Through the rips, through the holes, through the tears.
From the washer,
to the dryer,
to the clothesline in the air!
God bless my underwear, my only pair.
{Trumpet fanfare}
God bless my underwear, my only pair!
This song is one of my
favorite camping
memories -- please
pass it along = )
