A glaistig is a type of faerie that lives in Scotland, in the lakes or rivers. These faeries are female and hate men. They are half woman and half goat, and they use their dresses--usually green--to hide their goat legs and try to seduce men--with their beauty and the offer of a dance--in order to destroy them. Once a glaistig has ensnared a man, she drinks his blood. There is a legend that these faeries simply became real by growing out of men's paranoid thoughts. Strangely enough, they have also been known to do good things, such as looking after children like guardian angels, and shepherding from afar.
