Gepirone is a new antidepressant being tested in treatment of atypical depression. It is a pyridinyl piperazine 5-HT1A (serotonin) receptor agonist, with a chemical formula of C19H29N5O2. At least one study has shown it does not have side effects such as weight gain and sexual dysfunction. It is still being investigated and has not been approved by the FDA for use in the United States.
