Gatwick Express is a nonstop train service operating every 15 minutes between
Gatwick Airport and
Victoria Station in
London. It began operations in
1984, and was later purchased by
National Express, a company that also runs
Britain's largest
bus network.
The service claims to operate the youngest trains in the United Kingdom: its modern Juniper sets began service in 2000, and complete the journey from London to Gatwick in 30 minutes. Each train offers food and drinks on board, although these are nightmarishly expensive.
At £11 each way, the Gatwick Express is only economical if you're really in a hurry, or if you're carrying obscene amounts of luggage. For £8, you can take a slower, seedier, and much more interesting South Central train straight from Gatwick to Victoria, only stopping at a few major stations (East Croydon, Clapham Junction, etc).
