An 80's
sitcom that was a lot better then it ever deserved to be. It was a vehicle for
Will Smith, in his pre-
ID4 and
Men in Black, but post
Parents Just Don't Understand days. The basic premise was that
Will was a
troubled teen from
West Philadelphia who, after a
fight, was sent by his mother sent to live in
Bel-Air with his
rich uncle and
aunt. He moves in with his three
cousins and, as with all
sitcoms wacky hijinks follow.
Over the run of the show, a new
younger brother was added, the woman playing Will's aunt was
replaced, and Will and his cousin
Carlton went to
college. The show ended with Will moving to New York with real life girlfriend
Jada Pinkett Smith and his family selling their Bel-Air
mansion.
The
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air lasted from 1990-1996, a lot longer then anyone expected it to. It's
theme song is one of the most famous of the
90's. The
cast consisted of:
- Will Smith .... Will Smith

- Tatyana Ali .... Ashley Banks
- Joseph Marcell .... Geoffrey, the butler
- Janet Hubert-Whitten .... Vivian Banks (1990 - 1993)
