Comedy character created by John Clarke in the early 1970s. Fred Dagg and John Clarke are absolutely World Famous in New Zealand

Fred Dagg was a farmer who named all his sons Trevor, had a friend called Bruce Bayliss and was always making fun of the politicians. He always wore a black singlet, shorts and mismatched gumboots. At one stage he was supposedly runnning for Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Some of Fred Dagg's most enduring sketches were songs. They included "The Gumboot Song", and "We Don't Know How Lucky We Are". He also rewrote the words to the song "Star Of Wonder".
