A thick, sedimentary deposit deposited by a turbidity current, and originating from the erosion of rapidly rising fold mountains in the early stages of orogeny.

Flysch is a general term which can be applied to most sedimentary deposits formed during orogeny.

A name given to the series of sandstones and schists overlying the true nummulitic formation in the Alps, and included in the Eocene Tertiary.
