Flying in the face of conventional stupidity

I saw this on a removable block-letter sign outside a church on Route 110 in Ayer, MA:

FLYING IN THE FACE OF CONVENTIONAL STUPIDITY

To the faithful, I imagine this says something like "The Word of God is Good and Right, and everything else is just conventional stupidity." To the faithless (Hi Mom!), it says "This church is stupid, but in a NEW, EXCITING WAY." It's a vague, open-ended message - human nature being what it is, anyone who reads this sign will interpret it to support their beliefs.

If the author intended me to think this, that sign is genius.
