A leading school of Renaissance music after the Burgundian School, whose major influence was during the period from approximately 1450 to 1550. The Flemish School was so called because it was represented by a large number of composers born in Flanders and northern France. Some of the leading composers of the Flemish School were Johannes Ockeghem, Josquin des Prez, Adrian Willaert, Jacques Arcadelt, and Orlando de Lassus. Most of them emigrated to other countries to work (chiefly, Italy).
