My home fencing club.
The FCLI was founded in 1998, becoming the first dedicated fencing salle
on Long Island to be open seven days a week. Facilities include
5 fully operational electric fencing strips, two of which are grounded.
Plenty of equipment and uniforms are available for the beginning fencer
who does not have their own. A full armoring facility is available
for use, and several club armorers are usually on hand. Other amenities
include a snack bar, a small weight room, various practice props, exercise
bikes, and fencing dummies.
The FCLI runs group classes every day; classes in all three weapons
and skill levels are given each week. Individual lessons are always
available from one of the numerous club coaches and associate coaches,
each of whom have over ten years of fencing experience. Refereeing
clinics and weapon repair workshops are given several times a year, as
are club fencing tournaments.
You can usually find all three weapons (foil, epee, and sabre) being fenced at FCLI every day, but each weapon has one or two days out of the week as the "main" weapon of the day. This gets shifted around somewhat frequently.
The basic membership is $50 a month (or $400 yearly).
