1928- Pianist, singer, Composer

He played a Boogie-woogie style of New Orleans Rhythm and blues. Had a long series of national hits from the mid-'50s to the early '60s. Through it all, his basic approach rarely changed. He certainly laid the groundwork for the Rock and Roll revolution to come. His style can be compared to that of Chubby Checker.

Probably his most famous tune: Blueberry Hill 1956.

Some of his more well known compositions:

In 1968 he got back on the charts by doing a cover of the Beatles Lady Madonna which was written in a Fats Domino style by McCartney.

In 1986 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was also receives a "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 29th annual Grammy Awards.

He was undoubtedly a big influence on Randy Newman who imitates that stride piano.
