Front de Libération Nationale (National Liberation Front). Directed the Algerian War of Independence against France from 1954-62 and went on to rule Algeria as the only constitutionally legal party from 1962 to 1989 under Ahmed Ben Bella. The group successfully used "terrorist" style tactics such as bombing soda shops to engineer political change, when faced with the brutal methods the French used to supress them. The movie "The Battle of Algiers," about this episode, was banned in France for a time.
