Empty
My life is empty
My world is empty
A void has eaten away at my happiness
That void has become me
Others might not see it
It imitates me well.
But I know who I have become
Nothing
No feelings of truth, of love
Only a black hole
Which every day I descend into
I know there is no hope of escaping
It's a bottomless pit of despair
An eternal suffering
I reach for something to keep me safe
Always, my arm falls short
Or maybe, just maybe
The safety's a hallucination
Like water in a desert
An empty hope
An empty life

Character Etymology:

The top most radical represents hole (lit: hole in a roof) which is held above the bottom-most radical which represents, "to work upon." Originally, this character meant to dig out a hole that would then be covered with a roof to form a primitive dwelling. Since the roof was domed, the idea of empty space within the dwelling naturally became particularly associated with the central vaulted area, and eventually the concept of upper space extended to the sky iteself.
