Post-punk band from
Liverpool who recorded four great albums in the early 80s -
Crocodiles,
Heaven Up Here,
Porcupine and
Ocean Rain.
The lineup back then was
Ian McCulloch,
Will Sergeant,
Les Pattinson and
Pete de Freitas (Pete died in 1988 in a road accident).
Classic singles included
Lips Like Sugar,
Rescue,
The Back Of Love,
The Cutter and
The Killing Moon. They were contemporaries of
U2 and really should have been just as big.
The group disbanded in the late 80s but reformed to some success in recent years.
The recent albums don't have ths same bite and creativity though.
They recorded under the name
Electrafixion with much the same lineup in the mid 90s.
Lead singer
Ian McCulloch has had minor solo success.
Echo was the drum machine they used early on.
