EVGA stands for Extended Video Graphics Adapter. VESA created this in the early 90s (1991?). It offers support for resolutions up to 1024x768 @ 8 bpp, with the advantage over XGA in that it also offered a 70 Hz refresh rate.

E-VGA (note the tack), is also a video card manufacturer. Most of their cards are based on nVidia's GeForce series of chipsets, and are capable of much better resolution than the old EVGA adapters, often as high as 2048x1536 @ 24bpp at as much as 120Hz vertical refresh.

They are often considered to be low-budget cards, but have historically had average to good quality.
