A windup wristwatch. I was told that in order to wind it up, I had to pull out the stem. When I pulled it out, the stem came out completely, and I could see the inner workings of the watch through the hole in the side. The gears inside were loose and falling out of place, because the stem, and the gear attached to it were no longer holding the movement together, like in an interlocking puzzle.
