Donald Sinclair Davis is a relatively little-known, yet often seen actor who has played guest roles on a variety of
television series and
motion pictures. Davis's stately appearance equips him well for his roles... often elderly, experienced
military officials, doctors, and other
authority figures. In fact, I have seen few other actors whose roles follow such a strict pattern when it comes to the type of person he plays. Interestingly enough, Davis is, in actuality, a former
Army captain, stationed in Korea during the 1970s. He is a nationally recognized painter, and a former
theater professor.
Though seen frequently both in movies and on television, Davis seems most at home on the small screen.
Perhaps his most well-known role was that of
Garland Briggs, the father of
Bobby Briggs in the cult television series
Twin Peaks. In addition, he played
Dana Scully's father in
the X-files episode
Beyond the Sea, and is a regular on the
science-fiction series
Stargate: SG-1.
