Disney Limited Edition Collectable Dolls are exactly what they sound like; series of dolls, with a limited availability, featuring characters from Disney (and now Pixar!) franchises and intellectual properties.

There are several different series of collectable dolls. Some are more easily attainable, some are more expensive, and some have sub-series within the series proper. This is not including the odd one-off collectable dolls. The main two series of dolls are the unofficially-named "heirloom" dolls, and the officially-named "Designer" doll collections. These dolls tend to be released at midnight online, with official Disney stores having a limited physical quantity on hand. Some are also only available at the D23 Disney convention.

Limited Edition "Heirloom" Dolls

The "Heirloom" dolls, also called "Limited Edition" and "Deluxe Limited Edition", come in a standard doll size of 17 inches. Their boxes have the same standard dimensions, and they feature just one main doll, sometimes with minor props.

This series of dolls began in 2009 with the release of Disney's Snow White's Blu-Ray. The Heirloom Snow White Doll was the first of the Heirloom dolls, had a limited edition of 5000, and cost 99.50. Afterwards, Heirloom dolls were released whenever a title had its "diamond edition" Blu-Ray release. Once Disney cleared out the Disney Vault and ran out of old properties to re-release, they started releasing LE Heirloom dolls whenever a new movie came out. At first, these were limited to animated features, however they've since started doing doll releases for live action pictures as well.

Designer Doll Collection

The other main series of collectable dolls is the "Designer Doll" sets.

These dolls come in larger boxes and tend to have more than one figure included, with the more recent dolls having "scenes" with the characters interacting (Rapunzel with Flynn tied to the chair, Pinocchio sitting on a table looking at the Blue Fairy, etc.), rather than the dolls staring statically ahead. Unlike the Heirloom dolls, the Designer Dolls have different "series" under the Designer Doll logo. These series so far are:
