The initials stood for Diffusion, Information et Communicatio, but most fans jokingly said it stood for Do It Cheaply!, due to their assembly line style of animation, which dominated kids TV in 80s and 90s.
In 2008, the company was acquired by The Cookie Jar Group formally Cinar, which was acquired by DHX media in 2012.
