The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine is a terrorist group that was founded in 1969 as an offshoot of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. They have the unique distiction of being one of the few Palestinian groups that is primarily Christian, rather than Muslim.

Philosophically, the group is Marxist-Leninist. In addition to opposing the current peace process with Israel, the DLFP also opposes conservative elements within the Arab world, including the monarchies that rule most countries in the Middle East.

The DLFP is considered by many to be among the most progressive of Palestinian groups. Their leader, Naif Hawatmeh, expressed his approval for a "two-state" solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and even publicly shook hands with Israeli president Ezer Weizmann, although his group has refused to participate in negotiations with Israel.

Immediately following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, an anonymous caller claimed responsibility for the attacks on behalf of the DLFP, but his claim was quickly denounced by DLFP leaders.
