Some flies have all the luck.

In this case, it's the Delhi Sands fly.

The United States government has designated this fly as an endangered species.

Due to this designation, San Bernardino County, California, had to spend $10 million to build a special 10-acre "preserve" to help ensure it's survival.

Turns out that ten acres wasn't enough land for this winged pest and in 1999, the Interior Department demanded that an additional 2,200 acres be set aside for the fly. The original cost of the land was over $200 million.
