She doesn't talk about certain things
each year the list gets longer
this thing reminds her of him
this one of her son
this thing brings up childhood
the bits with terror and violence
she keeps adding more limits
to the conversation

meanwhile the body tries
to lock each of the things on the list
the words, the people
lock them away
shut them down
corded and nailed and buried
under piles and piles
so that only the nice words are left
only polite words are left
no one no one can reach
the toxic waste dump
of her heart
