Cyclospora cayetanensis
Description
A monocellular parasite that has been known to cause infections in humans. It was thought, until very recently, to be blue-green algae. Cyclospora infects people of all ages, and is transmitted through ingesting food or water that has been tainted with infected feces.
Gestation
Cyclospora usually takes approximately one week from ingestion before the onset of symptoms.
