With BitchX (and, therefore, I would guess EPIC), Ctrl-X is the default keyboard binding to switch between channels. Before I knew this, on IRC I had to keep on typing things like:
[#linuxwarez] /channel #hothotsex
[#hothotsex] /me moans.
[#hothotsex] /channel #linuxwarez
[#linuxwarez] So where can I download the latest Debian ISO?
If nothing else, my typing speed went way, way up. But sometimes I'd forget what channel I was on, and it could get embarassing.
