Novel from Haïtio-Québécois author, Dany Laferrière.

Written in 1985, the book was quite a success, largely because of his title, which would be translated as "How to Make Love to a Nigger, Without Getting Tired". The novel is about a young Haïtian writer who just arrived in Montréal and his writing a book about a young Haïtian writer who just arrived in Montréal and is writing a book.... (I think you got the point.)

So, in the book, the main character is writing the very book that we are reading, which shows a good use of the textual medium.

As the title suggests, there is a lot of sex in that book, and Dany Laferière really loves to play on stereotypes about black people. (He is black himself, though the black community called him a racist after the release of his book.)

Dany Laferière really likes books with long names, since the "sequel" to Comment faire l'amour... was named Cette grenade dans la main du jeune nègre est-elle une arme ou un fruit? (which means "This Pomegranate/Grenade (both are named grenade in French) in the Hand of the Young Nigger, is it a Weapon or a Fruit?").

A movie was made out of Comment faire l'amour... but it was probably one of the worst Québécois movies ever made, along with Freddo, Angelo et Roméo.
