A sub-genre of science fiction and sister-genre to steampunk. While steampunk is NeoVictorian, clockpunk is often NeoRenaissance. Steampunk and clockpunk both share a romantic, idealist vision of science, where 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration can be taken literally, meaning that any and all inspirations can be made manifest if only the Scientist works hard enough.

One example of clockpunk can be found in the the anime Robot Carnival, where the toy maker falls in love with a clockwork doll.

Clockpunk, unsurprisingly, makes heavy use of clockwork automatons and other contraptions. It also tends to mix more easily with the sword and sorcerery genre of fantasy than most science fiction, as a good many Magic: the Gathering cards hold testament to.
