Excellent 1995 made for cable HBO movie that reveals the rampage of terror of Andrei Chikatilo, the most prolific serial killer in recorded history. The movie features an excellent cast. Donald Sutherland portrays Colonel Fetisov the Army man placed in charge of finding the "Forest Killer." Stephen Rea gives a riveting performance as Burakov, the police officer obsessed with catching Chikatoli, and who is eventually driven to a nervous breakdown at the impotence of the Soviet police to capture a man who kills and mutilates children, seemingly at will. Jeffery DeMunn plays the killer and lets us see a little of the madman lurking behind the quiet eyes of a retired teacher.
I'd like to thank the academy, IMDB and the E2 List Formatter, without which none of this would have been probable.
