That's right: Chondropterygian is an adjective meaning "Having a cartilaginous skeleton" or a noun meaning "One of the Chondropterygii (a group of fishes)".

And not, as was formerly thought, another nickname for the Bronx, or slang euphemism for one-legged accountant.
