Chipzilla is basically a pejorative name for the giant chip manufacturer Intel.

It is not invented by Mike Magee of theRegister/theInquirer, but he is the man that made it popular. Mike himself gives the credit to Terry Shannon, editor of Shannon knows Compaq.

The name Chipzilla is, of course, inspired by the multi-billion dollar flick Godzilla, referring to the size of Intel.
