Located in Lincoln Park, near the DePaul University campus, the ChicagoChildren's Memorial Hospital is the oldest freestanding children's hospital in the United States. It was founded in 1882 by Julia Foster Porter as a memorial to her deceased son.

Recently, CMH was lauded for providing a cochlear implant to the youngest patient ever for such a procedure, being only eight months old. In addition to progress in this area, they are well known for their research on childhood cancers,epilepsy and are beginning a new initiative to battle brain tumors in minors.
