Very mellow early 1970s song, record in 1973 by Sammy Johns; it reached #5 on the Billboard Singles charts in 1975. The song is basically about a guy falling in love with a hitchhiking girl he just met and then the pair "do it" in the back of the guys's Chevrolet Van because according to him "that's all right with me" and than drops her off "in a town that was so small, you could throw a rock from end to end" and never sees her again and probably never will.

The song was popular with listeners because it reflected the sexually liberated it was written and first recorded in and became a ballad of hope for young male van owners who just cruised around trying to get laid.
