Chelan (Tsill-ane) means "deep water" in the Chelan language, and is the name of a Pacific Northwest tribe that lived along the very deep Lake Chelan. It is also the name of an Issaquah 130 class ferry, in the service of the Washington State Ferry system, which was built in Seattle, Washington in 1981.
