A tastey Latin American squash with a light-green skin.

Usually prepared by scooping out the pit and steaming the rest. Tastes good with other vegitables, in salads, or stuffed.

The chayote has a wrinkled surface which appears to be frowning.

If refrigerated, the chayote can last up to three or four weeks.
