Charles Stross is lots of things, but I knew of him initially as an author of some seriously kick-ass
post-cyberpunk-like
sci-fi. He also writes articles on
Perl and
Linux (currently for
Computer Shopper)
He's just released a collection of his
short stories, called "
Toast: and Other Rusted Futures" (which I plan on buying at some point...)
List of his work so far.. (liberated wholesale from his website at http://www.antipope.org/charlie/)
Just to give you a flavour of some of his work, here's a
quote from
"Halo"
"Like most of the others, half her wetware is running outside her skull on an array of processor nodes hooked in by quantum-entangled communication channels – her own personal metacortex.
Read his work! It's cool!
