Κηδαλιων

The instructor who taught the god Hephaestus to forge and work metals. After Hephaestus was born at Lemnos his mother Hera placed him in the care of Cedalion who lived at Naxos, and Cedalion taught him his skill. The same Cedalion helped Orion to regain his sight when he became blind. Orion placed him on his shoulders and bade him turn toward the rising sun, which cured him.
